Sorry #1, 2006, reduction woodcut & monoprint, 30 x 22 inches / 76 x 56 cm
Questions whether one is sorry at all. The text was intentionally carved right-reading, so it would print reversed. Overprinted with ‘off’ registration and obscuring monoprinting.
Investigating the limits of language and legibility as a metaphor for existential anxiety.
How can one livea meaningful life when daily life is so mundane? I explore mundane words and how illegible masses of texts occupy space. I work with themes of failure, disappointment, sentimentality, sarcasm and anxiety.
